We are hiring! Health and Safety Advisor needed for on-going expansion

Crysp is a distinctive Compliance practice providing both physical and digital compliance solutions to a diverse range for clients across the UK.

Due to continued growth across all client business sectors we have an additional vacancy for a Health & Safety Adviser. The role reporting directly to a Company Director is to support the physical operations including client workplace audits, development of client policies and management systems. Working with a small H&S team you will also be required to support and develop all internal compliance systems and policies to ensure our growing team work both safely and within the required legal parameters. 

You will need to demonstrate proven experience ideally supporting retail, education, manufacturing and construction clients, and have excellent communication skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out Client OHS Business Audits, Fire Risk Assessments and Occupational Workplace / Property Audits and produce reports.

  • Prepare safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards

  • Ensure both client and internal working practices are safe and comply with legislation

  • Prepare health and safety strategies and develop policy

  • Work with our digital team in automating process, policies and forms

  • Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all applicable legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry

  • Work with our digital team in preparing newsletters, blogs and bulletins

  • Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.

Salary

·       £45,000 - £50,000

Working hours

Although working hours are typically 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, you may be required to work irregular hours in the case of travel. Weekend working is not required

What to expect

  • Work is generally office and client based

  • Some activities may involve working at heights, in cramped, noisy, dirty or dangerous places and conditions, though this is not the typical work environment.

  • You may need to wear protective clothing when visiting workplaces.

  • Travel across the UK is common 

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. We will also consider candidates who are currently undertaking the necessary study towards achieving their NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety

A background, or experience in, any of the following areas may be useful:

  • Retail

  • Education

  • Construction

  • Manufacturing

  • Auditing 

Skills

You'll need to show evidence of the following:

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in order to explain health and safety processes to a diverse range of clients

  • Understanding of ISO 45001 standards and for certain clients the capability to audit / measure against these standards

  • Patience and diplomacy because the profession requires a collaborative approach

  • The ability to understand and analyse complex information and present it simply and accurately

  • An investigative mind

  • IT skills

  • Attention to detail

  • A flexible approach to work

  • An interest in the law and the ability to understand regulations

  • a driving license

  • Enhanced DBS
