Why that LADbible article has got it totally wrong on Bradford
Bradfordian and Co-Founder of Crysp shares his thoughts on a recent article by LADbible that reports on a survey claiming that Bradford is Europe’s most dangerous city
As a proud Bradfordian I often turn the other way with content like this because I know it to be untrue. Together with the team at Crysp, we are proud to call Bradford our home and it is where we have chosen to build our exciting property technology business backed by the education giant, Twinkl.
The reason I am writing this blog post is that I was recently asked where I was from on a business trip. When I replied “Bradford” he laughed and said “ah the most dangerous city in Europe”, quickly followed by “don’t worry they said Coventry was second” with an incredibly mischievous grin.
Bradford’s District Commander, Chief Superintendent Rob McCoubrey has dismissed the study, commenting "It is disappointing that this survey fails to recognise many of the attributes that make Bradford such a fantastic city”, so here are a few reasons why I think Bradford is a great place to live and work;
✅ We have just appeared in Bionic Report and I am delighted to share that Bradford is in the TOP 10 UK cities to start a small business
✅ As one of the most diverse places in the UK, Bradford has been named the 2025 City of Culture which will attract thousands of tourists and generate millions of funding and investment
✅ We are an innovation hub for the space industry with Bradford based companies supporting the UK and European Space Agencies
✅ We have some of the most spectacularly beautiful nature attractions in the country (North Yorkshire moors on our doorstep and towns such as Ilkley)
✅ I am writing this article from my office in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Saltaire Village (I can walk to Bradford City Centre in 20 minutes)
✅ We have some of the best nationally recognised tourist and visitor attractions with millions coming to see venues such as the Alhambra or Bronte Parsonage
✅ We are the home city of the UK’s greatest living artist, David Hockney.
The purpose of sharing this article as a company is to demonstrate our pride in the city, its heritage, its people and its diversity. Here is an open invitation to the team at LADbible to come spend a couple of days in Bradford with us and I promise you will have a great time.
